Cop Gets 2 Years for Illegal Cavity Searches

A Milwaukee police officer has been sentenced to 26 months in jail after being charged with 25 counts of assault and sexual assault for routinely inflicting illegal anal cavity searches on black males as young as 15. Michael Vagnini admitted his guilt on four felony and four misdemeanor charges in a plea deal. Four other officers were implicated in the assaults. Vagnini, who is white, had another cop hold a gun to one victim's head while he choked him, touched his genitals and conducted the cavity search, the victim said. Wisconsin law prohibits police officers from administering cavity searches. Only medical professionals may do so, and only when authorized by a warrant.
