Travel Company Hipmunk Raises $20 Million to Expand

Hipmunk, the online travel company, announced the closing of a $20-million Series C funding round on Friday.


Adam Goldstein and Reddit co-founder Steve Huffman started Hipmunk in 2010 with the goal "to take the agony out of travel." The company offers search for hotels, commercial airline and charter flights, trains and vacation rentals; partnerships with Airbnb and Homeaway have expanded Hipmunk's offerings. In August, it added last-minute booking, offering deals for same day hotel booking.



Since its founding, Hipmunk has sought to differentiate itself with features like visual search. The playing field has become much more crowded in the past four years, though. Read more...
