Virgin Galactic has signed a deal with the Federal Aviation Authority to allow the company to charter SpaceShipTwo space flights from its base in New Mexico. The firm hopes to launch its first flight by the end of 2014. Virgin Galactic, co-owned by Richard Branson and Abu Dhabi's Aabar Investments, also has agreements with California to allow test flights.
