Christie Vetoes New Jersey Pig Crate Ban

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) vetoed legislation banning the use of pig gestation crates in New Jersey and urged state legislators "to turn their attention to actual problems facing New Jersey." The bill would've had a small impact in the state -- there are only 9,000 in the state. But the influential early primary state of Iowa has 20 million pigs and pig farming generates $7.5 billion in total economic activity for the state. "It reeks of Christie's priorities," said state Sen. Raymond Lesniak (D-Union). "And his priorities are the preservation of his national political ambitions."
