Indonesia’s Anak Krakatau shaken by violent eruption

Jakarta – INDONESIA: Mount Anak Krakatau (Anak Krakatoa) in Lampung erupted last night, April 10, at 21:58 local time, with the ash column reached 200 meter above the crater or 357 meter above sea level. “Mount Anak Krakatau Lampung has erupted,” said a National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) officer, Fahrul Roji, on BNPB Twitter account, April 11. The news was obtained from the Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Agency or PVMBG.

Fahrul explained that the ash column was grayish in color with medium to thick intensity, leaning to the south. The eruption was 44 mm maximum amplitude and occurred for 1 minute 12 seconds, as recorded in the seismograph. The status of the volcano is alert level II (waspada), Fahrul said. People and tourists are barred to approach the crater within the radius of 2 kilometer.  –Tempco
