The character actor Elliott Reid, best known for his roles with Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Fred MacMurray The Absent-Minded Professor, died Friday of heart failure at the age of 93. Reid's career began in radio, where he was a regular on Suspense, and he was a member of Orson Welles' Mercury Theater company. He later worked as a writer, penning episodes of the shows Lou Grant and After MASH.
