Al Jazeera has put out a global call for solidarity on with its four journalists that have been detained in Egypt for months.
The Global Day of Action on Thursday was planned to bring attention to the journalists as well as the deteriorating conditions for members of the media in Egypt
Events were planned for more than 30 cities, and Al Jazeera staff in newsrooms across the world sent support. The organization encouraged people to include the hashtag #FreeAJStaff in tweets.
Al Jazeera reporters Pete Greste, Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed were arrested on Dec. 29 by Egyptian authorities under accusation of spreading false news and membership in a "terrorist group." The group stood trial on Feb. 21, but the trail has been adjourned to March 5. Read more...
