New York City is home to more than 8 million people of which roughly 36% are immigrants, according to recent statistics. The city has long been a beacon to those seeking a better life, and its welcoming nature has given rise to a famously vibrant LGBTQ community, whose presence has shaped its history for at least a century
To mark Pride Month, we spoke with several members of the immigrant LGBTQ community to hear in their words what the community, the city, and its accompanying freedom means to them.
