Actor Edward Herrmann Dies

The Emmy Award-winning actor Edward Herrmann died Wednesday after being hospitalized in intensive care under treatment for cancer. He was 71. The longtime character actor won an Emmy in 1999 for an appearance on The Practice and a Tony twenty three years earlier for a lead role in George Bernard Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession. He may be best known for portraying the father and grandfather Richard Gillmore on Gillmore Girls and an older vampire on the movie The Lost Boys.
