A suicide bomber attacked a ceremony Wednesday hosted by Shiite rebels commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, killing at least 24 people and wounding 48 in a country plagued by militants, authorities said.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack on a cultural center in the city of Ibb, some 190 kilometers (120 miles) from the capital, Sanaa, though Yemen's local al-Qaida branch has carried out similar attacks in the past.
